AANI’s 5th Distinguished Alumni Lecture focused on harnessing Nigeria’s Orange Economy for sustainable development, with security identified as a key enabler of creativity, entrepreneurship, investment and innovation. The lecture brought together policymakers, academics, security experts and development practitioners to explore practical strategies for unlocking the sector’s potential, creating jobs and empowering Nigeria’s youthful population.

The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), led by its President, Ambassador Emmanuel Obi Okafor, mni, has congratulated Barr. Gandi Umar Muhammad, mni (SEC 29, 2007), on his conferment as Sarkin Galman Sarkin Musulmi by the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar CFR, mni. The honour recognizes his outstanding contributions to the Muslim Ummah, Sokoto State, Nigeria, and humanity. AANI described the title as well deserved, commended his distinguished public service, including his role as Secretary of the Sokoto State Civil Service Recruitment Committee, and prayed for wisdom and success as he assumes his new traditional responsibility.

The Director-General of National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, paid an official visit to the National Executive Committee of Alumni Association of the National Institute at its National Secretariat in Abuja on 25 June 2026. The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration, enhancing the Institute's legacy, and advancing policy excellence and national development. The Director-General also briefed the alumni on the recent security incident at NIPSS, expressing appreciation for their support. Both organizations reaffirmed their commitment to deeper partnership, leadership development, and nation-building.
