Biography
Dr Umar Khalifa Mohammed was born in Kano state at Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area on 4th July 1981 to the family of Alhaji Mohammed Sabiu Umar, uly 1981 Mrs Rapiatu Umar. He began his early education from the Nigerian Airforce Primary School in Kano State. Thereafter, he gained admission at Home Science Secondary School in Lagos State in 1993 and was transferred to Comprehensive College Secondary School, Kaduna State, while in SS3, where he obtained his WAEC Certification in 1999. He then obtained his A-Levels (GCE) from Princethorpe College in Coventry, UK in 2001 and HND Computing from Plymouth University, UK in 2005. He gained his first degree in BSc Information Technology in 2006, while a Masters degree in International Management in 2008, both degrees attained from the University of the West of England, Bristol, UK. Upon his return to Nigeria in 2011, helater obtained a PhD in International Studies from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in 2021.
Khalifa is currently the Director, Central Services and Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Pro-Chancellor at Baze University, Abuja. Prior to this, he worked in a number of positions both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, which include but not limited to Head, Service Delivery & Project Management, ICT Unit in Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), MD/CEO of Gano Group of Companies Limited, amongst others. While in the UK, he was in a number of IT professional roles as a Consulting Contractor.
He has attended several Management and Leadership training courses, including Management Essentials from Harvard Business School, Boston, USA; Certificate in Good Governance from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore; Management Strategies for People and Resources, YALI Network; Proficiency Certificate in Management (NIM), amongst others. In addition, he is a recipient of a number of awards and commendations in the course of his career. He was conferred with the Fellowship Award for Distinguished and Sterling Professional Contribution to Educational Administration from the Institute of Corporate Administration (ICAD) in 2021, amongst others. He is a member of several Professional Bodies in Nigeria and the United Kingdom, which include: Fellow, Institute of Corporate Administration (ICAD), Abuja; Member, Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Maitama Chapter, Abuja; Member, amongst others. He is happily married to Niima Mohammed Sambo.
