The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI) announced with deep sorrow the passing of its dear and distinguished member, Imo Bassey, mni (SEC 42, 2020), who passed away shortly before Christmas in December 2025, following a prolonged illness.
Imo Bassey, mni, was a committed member of the AANI Akwa Ibom State Chapter and a seasoned public servant who rendered dedicated service to Akwa Ibom State. He was appointed a Permanent Secretary in the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service on 31 May 2019 by the then Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel. He was also associated with the Local Government Service Commission of Akwa Ibom State, where he contributed meaningfully to public administration and governance.
He faced his period of ill health with courage and quiet resilience. His passing left a deep sense of loss within the AANI family, particularly the Akwa Ibom State Chapter, as well as among colleagues and friends who knew and worked with him.
The AANI family extended its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Akwa Ibom State Chapter, and all who mourned his passing. He will be remembered for his dedication to public service, humility, and enduring commitment to the ideals of the National Institute.
May his soul rest in perfect peace.
