The Alumni Association of the National Institute (AANI), under the leadership of Ambassador Emmanuel Obi Okafor, mni, announced with deep sorrow the passing of one of its distinguished members, Alhaji Gazali Dewale Lawal (OON, NPM, mni), a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police and member of Senior Executive Course (SEC) 29, 2007. He passed away on Friday, 9th January 2026, at the ABUAD Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. A Life of Service and Leadership Alhaji Gazali Dewale Lawal was a highly respected senior police officer who served Nigeria with honour, courage, and professionalism, rising to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police. His career was marked by discipline, integrity, and unwavering dedication to national service. Beyond his service to the nation, he was a revered traditional leader as the Asiwaju of Ikirunland. He also served as the Family Head of the Agunbe Descendants Union in Ikirun, where he provided leadership rooted in wisdom, integrity, and communal harmony. His life reflected a steadfast commitment to public service, community development, and the enduring values of the National Institute.
